Welcome to the Journey of Bordeaux and Brains.

Hello and Welcome!

I'm thrilled to open the doors to this virtual sanctuary, a space I've created to share my passions and experiences with you. "Bordeaux and Brains” isn't just a blog; it's a narrative of a journey that intertwines the rich complexities of wine, the immersive world of books, the challenging yet rewarding path of studying counselling, and the deeply personal battles with mental health, particularly PTSD and anxiety. This blog isn’t going to be all sunshine and fairies, or should I say downing wine and dancing, it will show the complex mindset battles as well as more positive and bright days, it will be honest and truthful about studies and self-reflection along with the occasional wine treat that I am lucky to experience at some of London’s best wine bars.

Wine: A Toast to Life's Ups and Downs

As a wine enthusiast, I'll be bringing you reviews and stories from the world of wines (Especially from Bordeaux). From the rolling vineyards of Bordeaux to the rustic charm of small, family-run wineries, we'll explore together the nuanced flavours and the stories behind every bottle. Whether you're a seasoned sommelier or a casual sipper, there's a place for you here at the table. I have been lucky enough to experience some amazing wines for my young age, I worked in London in hospitality for 3 years and this helped me connect with other like-minded folk and as they say, it’s not what you know, its who you know!

Books: Diving into Different Worlds

Books have always been a sanctuary for me. Each review will be a key, unlocking worlds crafted in pages, waiting to be discovered. Whether it's a gripping thriller, or an enlightening non-fiction, our shared journey through different narratives promises to be as diverse as life itself. Whilst studying counselling my mind tends to wander a lot into the deep psychology books or something similar that’ll help me along my studying journey. I enjoy philosophy and history and true life stories, including crime.

Mental Health: The Unseen Battles

Navigating the complexities of mental health is a crucial part of my story. I'll be sharing my personal experiences with PTSD and anxiety, offering a voice to those silent battles many of us face. I have a lot of trauma from childhood but currently allowing myself the space to self reflect and not let it take over, this can be hard but it will be an onward journey. This is a safe space for discussion, support, and understanding, where we acknowledge the darkness but also celebrate the light of overcoming and coping. I will aim to put a comment section for people to share their worries but as much as I am into blogging, the tech side is not my strong point, but one will learn.

Studying Counseling: A Path to Understanding

Embarking on the path to becoming a counsellor has been enlightening and humbling. Through this blog, I'll share insights and learnings from my journey in studying counselling. It's a window into the world of healing and understanding, as much for me as for those I hope to help. I decided many years ago that I wanted to be someone who I needed to help me as a child, it took me a while to realise what this pathway was until recently and then I started on embarking on my Counselling journey from September 2023 with Level 3, CPCAB. My peers are fantastic and from all walks of life, my tutor is insightful and I am enjoying it a lot, despite being behind on Learning Reviews, oops.

Managing Life: The Art of Balancing

Life is a delicate balance, and here, I'll share how I manage the juggling act of passions, responsibilities, and self-care. Expect tips, reflections, and perhaps a few life hacks on how to keep all the balls in the air without losing your sanity (or whilst going through this). It will be a complete mixture of my random thoughts and feelings, wine reviews and books that I am trying to read (or get through! God damn Proust!). My challenge is 100 books this year and I am 3 down, I think I need to crack on.
